Michelle began her career in publishing in 2004 as a research assistant developing white papers for various grade school programs at McGraw-Hill Education. Since then, she’s developed a diverse skill set including project managing, digital content development, copyediting, and acquisitions. Michelle has worked on projects for an eclectic range of companies ranging from major educational publishers and university presses to medical software companies.
Born in Georgia, raised in Ohio, she now lives in Edinburgh, Scotland, with her husband and two children. Michelle is a certified yoga teacher and teaches a class or two in her spare time. When unplugged, she loves reading, hiking, and spending quality time with her family.
If I weren’t a writer/editor, I would be: a full-time yoga teacher or doula.
My morning routine is: wake up with the children (or be woken up by them is more true). Coffee is always first; even the little ones know this has to happen. Kitchen yoga while the French press does its thing; the kids are usually involved. Then a flurry of getting dressed, breakfast, and out the door for our walk or bike ride to nursery and work.
I most admire: my grandmother and late grandmother. They’ve lived through some really rough times, both in the wider world and in their own personal lives. Their resilience is impressive. And they both are never without bold lipstick – I love it!
My superpower is: I think I need to find one! Being a mom? That feels like a superpower sometimes.
