Helen graduated from the University of Oxford with a first-class degree in English language and literature. Now a writer and publishing consultant, she has worked in educational publishing for over 20 years, helping to create materials for learners in almost every country in the world during her in-house roles at Pearson, Scholastic, Cambridge University Press & Assessment, and Hachette.
Helen enjoys sharing her knowledge with others and has mentored internationally as part of a program facilitated by the World Intellectual Property Organization. Diversity, equity, and inclusion are important to her, and she has reviewed over 100 books to ensure they are meaningful for all readers, whatever their background. Helen is passionate about education as a force for positive change and loves to travel to different countries as part of her international work.
When she’s not working, Helen enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters, walking her German shepherd in the nearby woods, and trying to stop her cat from walking on her keyboard!
If I weren’t a writer/editor, I would be: a pilot. I love to travel and meet new people.
My morning routine is: making sure my cats are fed, my children are where they need to be, my emails are open, and that there’s coffee on my desk.
I most admire: the legacy of my mother. She taught me the importance of kindness, patience, hard work, and good humor.
My superpower is: synthesizing information. OR: being able to spot a spider from almost any distance and make everyone nearby aware!
