Tonya has worked in publishing since 2007. She began her career in the managing editorial departments of educational publishing vendors in Chicago and Austin, Texas, later expanding her skill set to include copyediting and proofreading. Firmly believing that there is nothing as distracting as a typo, she is dedicated to helping clients ensure every sentence shines.
Her favorite content areas include psychology, sociology, business development, and fiction. She also brings expertise in diversity, equity, and inclusion reviews, as well as writing alt text to make educational products more accessible. She enjoys the challenge of mastering every style guide possible (though the Chicago Manual of Style will always be her favorite).
A native of Chicago, Tonya is a graduate of Northwestern University. She fled the frigid north for sunny Austin, Texas, where she lives with her husband and son. In her free time, she enjoys movies, hiking, football (go Bears), travel, and chasing her son around seemingly every playground in the Austin area.
If I weren’t a writer/editor, I would be: a documentary filmmaker.
My morning routine is: pretending it’s not morning (I’m a night owl)! But when reality sets in: getting my son dressed and off to school, then fueling up with caffeine before starting my workday.
I most admire: my parents
My superpower is: knowing a staggering amount of random trivia. (It comes in handy when you least expect it.)
